Congratulations to Spencer’s Very Own, Class of 1975, Isaiah Hugley
The William H. Spencer High School family proudly celebrates the historic achievement of Isaiah Hugley, Class of 1975, on becoming the first elected Black Mayor of Columbus, Georgia. Following a closely watched runoff election, Hugley was elected as the city’s 71st mayor, marking a significant milestone in Columbus history.
A dedicated public servant with more than four decades of service to the Columbus community, Mayor-elect Hugley has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to leadership, progress, and public service. His election serves as an inspiration to current and future generations of Greenwave students, proving that excellence, perseverance, and service can create lasting change.
As alumni, we celebrate not only this historic moment but also the legacy of leadership that continues to emerge from William H. Spencer High School.
Congratulations, Mayor Isaiah Hugley! We are proud to call you one of our own. Thank you for continuing the legacy and making history. Go Greenwave!
